Girldeka Redefines Independence for a New Generation of Women

For women, independence can mean many things: having the freedom to make our own choices, define who we want to be, and build lives on our own terms. This 81st Independence Day, Wowmen Group celebrated that spirit in a way that felt a little more personal, playful, and, of course, girly.

On August 16, Wowmen Group hosted Girldeka, a celebration created to capture the joy and spirit of Independence Day alongside our girlhood besties. Through a series of iconic Independence Day games with a feminine twist, Girldeka brought the community together to laugh, connect, and make new memories.

As a platform dedicated to empowering women, Wowmen Group believes that community and connection are an integral part of the journey. Girldeka was created not only as a celebration, but also as a reminder that women deserve spaces where they can feel connected, supported, and free to simply be themselves.

The event kicked off with the Girlhood Bestie Race, a series of feminine versions of classic Independence Day games with a fun, girly twist. Participants competed in four different challenges that required teamwork, creativity, and collaboration.

The first station was the Heels Marble Race, a relay race where participants had to balance a marble on a spoon while wearing high heels. Next was Lipstick in a Bottle, where we attached a tube of lipstick to the waist, and the participants had to get the lipstick into the bottle without using their hands.

The third station was the Ribbon Challenge, where every participant made as many neat ribbons as possible within 60 seconds. And finally, station 4 was the Wowmen Sports Club Challenge, where each team had to imitate a group yoga pose. 

But, Girldeka was not merely about the games.

Through the Dear Future Bestie Wall, participants could leave messages for the girls at the event. We know that sometimes, writing a message can feel easier than starting a conversation. A simple note can be a small act of kindness—and perhaps even the beginning of a new friendship.

Independence Day is a celebration of joy, freedom, and community. At Girldeka, we channeled that same spirit into celebrating girlhood, friendship, and the freedom to enjoy the little things together.

Because being a woman is not about overcoming challenges or meeting expectations that have been shaped by society for generations. Sometimes, it is simply about laughing with your besties, meeting new people, cheering each other on, and permitting ourselves to enjoy a moment of happiness.
